Spool

I'm thinking I wouldn't mind making this lovely little bird mobile I found on Spool. (A great sewing blog I just discovered and is definitely worth checking out.) You can download a free pattern for the mobile here. They also have an on-line shop full of lots of pretty fabric and patterns.Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Heather Bailey
Lots of pretty fabric and patterns in Heather Bailey's on-line store. I'm adding that cute little handbag with the fabric flower to my project list. Check out her blog, Hello My Name is Heather, for more colorful inspiration.

Marimekko

About a year ago I saw a little girl wearing the cutest backpack. I made a mental note of the tag on the bag which read, Marimekko. I googled the name only to discover that Marimekko is a renown textile design company based in Finland. The company was established in 1951 so I'm sure this is not a new discovery to most. However, I do live under a sizable rock (in the Midwest, no less) so I'm not usually the first to hear about cool stuff. But, in case you live under an even bigger rock than I do and are just now hearing about Marimekko for the first time, you can see more stuff here and here.

Joel Dewberry
I am definately inspired by great design in any form, including pretty fabric. Unfortunately there just aren't enough hours in the day to put that inspiration to work! (Hence the reason I store it all here with hopes it will be put to good use at some future date.) Anyway, here's a great find from Design Mom I thought I'd pass along to all you fabric lovers out there. It's an "eclectic modern" collection of fabrics by designer Joel Dewberry. So pretty.
Cool random fact: He graduated from my alma mater, Brigham Young University. (Go Cougs!)

Fabric at Ikea
Ikea has a new fabric line. Unfortunately they don't sell it on-line but lucky for me, they just opened a store a couple hours from my house. While I won't make a special trip just for a few yards of fabric, I will sleep better tonight just knowing it's there and that it only costs $5.99 a yard.
As seen on Design Mom.

Amy Butler Design
So, although I have not yet purchased any of her fabric, I am a HUGE Amy Butler fan. While I love the design of her fabric, I also feel a special connection to her because she lives in Ohio. It's not like I know her personally just because we live in the same state but nonetheless, I think it is neat that her studio is just an hour from where I live. Also, I don't think most people consider Ohio to be a "cool" state. So, when given the opportunity (aka my blog) I like to point out that some "cool" things do come from Ohio. But, I digress...
I was perusing her site the other day and was excited to see she is coming out with a new collection of fabrics called Midwest Modern.
Here are some of my favorites:

I also like her Lotus Collection:
