I Love Your Style

I saw this book awhile back in the J.Crew catalog and I think it's right up my alley. Defining/refining my style is a goal I have for post pregnancy. I have always had an interest in clothing and fashion but the trouble with me is, I'm all over the map when it comes to dressing myself. (I think I'm all over the map in a lot of things but I'll just leave it at personal style for now.) I say this because I'm drawn to a little bit of everything: classic to bohemian, super feminine to tomboy-ish, bright colors to all black. I need to figure out a way to rein it in while at the same time making practical choices for my lifestyle. Afterall, I am a stay-at-home mom who could technically stay in my pajamas most days. Anyway, I thought this book might help. I also have some really stylish friends who have their own definite style and always seem to look really put together. Perhaps I'll solicite their advice and post what they have to say on the topic here on the old blog. Does anyone out there have any great style advice? Please share! In the meantime, I'm going to try to hunt down this book at the library.

Holy cow, it's December 1st! Making an advent calendar is one of the many projects on my list that I just haven't gotten around to. Lonny

I subscribe to Gwenyth Paltrow's free lifestyle e-newsletter, Goop. If you don't get it, you can sign up here. She gives some pretty good advice on everything from travel to fashion, recipes to parenting. Anyway, in her most recent newsletter, she turned me on to a new on-line magazine called Lonny. Apparently it was created by a couple of Domino magazine alumni. (R.I.P. Domino.) I just clicked through it's pages and it is chock-full of great home decor inspiration. Have a moment of silence for Domino and then go check it out for yourself!

Oh how I love projects that involve pretty labels. If you are also a label-lover, check out this brand new company: Stuck Labels. The designs are simple but clever and the prices are affordable. Twitter

I have a found a cure for the manic blogger! (Okay, not really.) I'm still getting the hang of it but it's called Twitter. Now I can write one sentence updates (I like short and sweet), for those little thoughts that may or may not need an entire post dedicated to them. Birthday Card

Spool

I'm thinking I wouldn't mind making this lovely little bird mobile I found on Spool. (A great sewing blog I just discovered and is definitely worth checking out.) You can download a free pattern for the mobile here. They also have an on-line shop full of lots of pretty fabric and patterns.

Bigfoot

Jared always laughs at me when I tell him I think Bigfoot is real. Well, check out this story I found today on CNN. I guess they discovered one in Georgia. Look who's laughing now?!

No, really. I recently stumbled across this great sewing blog that I feel is pass-along worthy: Grosgrain Fabulous. Love the name, love all of her cute creations, love the entire vibe of her blog. Here is just a sampling, go check it out for yourself!

Cool Beverage Anyone?

I enjoy a cool* beverage but I think I would enjoy it even more if it were coming from this cool** beverage jar. Available here for $40. Not bad.

**Cool, Slang: great, fine, excellent.

It's No Free Spirit...

but these Jorg & Olif Dutch bikes are pretty cool, pretty expensive and well...just plain pretty! (The fact that it was featured in a J.Crew catalog helps. They have a way of making everything look pretty.) So, if you are looking to invest some cash in a bike that looks classic but is actually nice and new, this may be the bike for you.

I saw these globe lights and immediately started dreaming of a backyard summer soiree. Ahhh, summer. I wish it were warm and sunny and that these lights were hanging in my backyard.

Esty-Love

Is anyone else overwhelmed by Etsy? I just discovered this great site:Esty-Love. They post cool stuff they find on Etsy so you don't have to look for it. Here are a couple fun finds I thought I'd pass along:
